About the Artist
Alina holds a BA in Professional Communication and a diploma in Architecture. Since her adolescence, Alina has been a capable artist, dedicated to watercolour painting and pen and ink drawing. However, in recent years, she started looking for more meaning in her art. At the beginning of 2008, fortune brought her to the icon-painting class of the master-iconographer Vladimir Blagonadezhdin. She has been his student ever since.
Alina paints in the traditional style of the Moscow school. Although based on Byzantine canons, the Moscow school is distinct; it is known for the complexity in composition and theological symbolism, elongation of figures, warm saturated colours and a more gentle representation of saints which are perfectly rendered by 14th century master Andrei Rublev.
Some of Alina’s completed works are for sale. She is also available for commissions, for both traditional icons and non-religious art. Please feel free to contact her.
Alina resides in Victoria, BC, Canada. Her gallery/studio is located on the 2nd floor of The Well, 821 Fort Street, Victoria.
